Now what on earth did Congress, with their abysmal 24 percent approval rating, to do warrant a 2.5 percent pay raise? Oh, it was tucked into an appropriations bill. So they had to do nothing. By doing more nothing, they simply allowed their base salaries to increase by 4100 dollars. That's about one third the annual salary of a person working minimum wage. A group of taxpayers challenged the raise, but the Supreme Court refused to review it. Btw, the Supreme Court's pay raises must be approved by Congress. See how it works? Vote for Ron Paul; he'll end this madness once and for all
