In a heart-stopping finish, Dale Earnhardt Jr. drove NASCAR into a new era in his first race for Hendrick Motorsports, winning the Budweiser Shootout at Daytona International Speedway on Saturday night.
At the track that claimed his father's life in 2001, Earnhardt, at the wheel of the No. 88 Chevrolet, held off a determined Tony Stewart in the No. 20 Toyota and Jimmie Johnson, who finished third in the No. 48 Chevrolet.
